Netflix DIY Projects

Socks that know when you’re asleep? A switch that gives you Netflix superpowers? These projects are off the hook!

ADMIT IT. You have long wished for a pair of high-tech Netflix Socks that know when you have fallen asleep in front of the TV and have the ability to pause the program you’re watching so you don’t miss a thing.

Well, someone else had that idea, too, only they actually drew up the plans and now Netflix is making them freely available for anyone willing to take a crack at them.

And then there’s the other project, The Switch. Build this baby and with one press of the magic button you can dim the lights, silence incoming calls, turn on Netflix, and order takeout.

That’s right, order takeout. Amazing, right? About the only thing this Switch won’t do is tip the delivery guy.

Now, I’m not saying any of this will be easy. These are serious projects for serious makers. But hats off to Netflix—a purveyor of passive entertainment, after all—for challenging its customers to get up off the couch, find their inner Tony Stark and build some wild tech.

Check out the videos below if you think I’m kidding. Then head over to the Netflix “make it” site and start building.

Please note, I take an extra large sock.
