CYKO KO, the Graphic Novel You Color Yourself

New from Alterna, this all-ages adventure is part comic, part coloring book, and all fun.

THERE’S A NEW HERO on the scene, and if he seems a bit colorless at first that’s only because it’s your job to provide the color. He’s Cyko KO, corny jokester and all-around man of action, and he’s the star of a unique new interactive publication from Alterna Comics that’s as fresh as it is old school.

The book runs 64 pages and features a complete story, as well as lots of classic games and puzzles of the hangman/word scramble variety. It’s appropriate for children, and will keep them busy for hours, but it’s also peppered with enough wry humor and clever pop culture references to entertain adults. The pages are perforated for easy removal and display, and there’s even a Cyko KO mask you can cut out from the back cover.

Sure it’ll ruin the book, say the instructions, but it’ll be totally worth it!

Cyko KO is the creation of artist and writer Rob Feldman. He introduced the character a couple of years back in a nicely done 10-part Webtoons series featuring sound effects and motion. That innovation led to this latest innovation, and at this point you’ve really got to wonder where Feldman will go next in exploring the form. With that in mind, I’m glad to see that he’s hooked-up with Alterna, an indie comic publisher that is itself no stranger to innovation.

Cyko KO is available now in comic shops and from Amazon and other booksellers.
